Around 1986 LVNL implemented a simple AFTN (Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Network) terminal, called ADAS (Aeronautical Data Access System). The main functionality of ADAS is to receive and send AFTN messages in ICAO and ADEXP format. The format of the messages is validated before transmitting these to other AFTN nodes.
