The project OASE (Optimalisation Procurement of Ancillary Services) aims to realise a robust APFAS platform (auction platform for ancillary services) in the target architecture of TenneT which provides the possibility to minimize the contract period requirement to a week, but also has the possibility to still support the current monthly auctions or to decrease the contract period even more to for instance day ahead or intraday hourly contracts.

With the development of the liberalized market and energy transition, more and different types of Balancing Service Providers (BSP's) entered the ancillary services market. New suppliers are mostly owners of smaller decentralized production or demand side response units. Also there is the push for sustainability and energy independence which is driving large-scale adoption of renewable energy supply. These new BSP's and renewable energy suppliers often have difficulty with the contract period requirement in the current quarterly and monthly contracts due to poor predictability of being in operation on a quarterly and/or monthly basis. That, and an upcoming legal obligation to conclude daily contracts for a considerable part of our need, and a maximum contract duration of one month, leads to the need to be enabled to create a contracting platform.

The project OASE (Optimalisation Procurement of Ancillary Services) aims to realise a robust APFAS platform in the target architecture of TenneT which provides the possibility to minimize the contract period requirement to a week, but also has the possibility to still support the current monthly auctions or to decrease the contract period even more to for instance day ahead or intraday hourly contracts.

The OASE project has to cope with the current landscape situation. In 2017 TenneT has developed a APFAS prototype in Access. Due to its success it has been placed in production in December 2017. Project OASE should realise APFAS in the target architecture of TenneT replace the Access application and underlying SQL-database.
