GCA is seeking a qualified firm to facilitate and expand development of digital early warning services against severe weather risk and development of multi-hazard contingency plans for climate risk preparedness in Niger, Kenya and Madagascar.
The work will include enhancing capacity for use of such early warning systems, which is crucial for supporting risk preparedness to climatic shocks that mainly affect the rainfed agricultural systems, which are the main source of livelihoods for the vulnerable people in Africa.
The detailed Terms of Reference and Deliverables for this assignment are presented in Annex 2 of the Request for Proposals posted on the GCA website. All deliverables including financial reporting must be submitted no later than 31 December 2023.

GCA seeks to select an appropriate organization that will facilitate and expand development of digital early warning services against severe weather risk and development of multi-hazard contingency plans for climate risk preparedness in Niger, Kenya and Madagascar.

Scope of work:
-Engage with Regional Climate Centers to integrate seasonal forecasts into adaptation planning;
-Carry out training sessions for Regional Climate Centers on the options and comparative advantage of different software and climate forecasts for early warning purposes;
-Development of dashboards to facilitate seasonal monitoring to a wider community;
-Develop modules to incorporate early warning and seasonal weather forecasts from Regional Climate Service Centers;
-Conduct policy workshop dialogues on Early warning systems to increase awareness and sharing of experiences;
-Carry out training on insurance and Risk Transfer Mechanisms for African stakeholders in Africa.
