Maastricht University (UM) as partner in the ETpathfinder project will host a facility aimed at the development and tests of extremely sensitive optical interferometers. The primary goal is to improve the sensitivity to the level required by future generations of gravitational wave detectors.
The facility will consist of a large cleanroom which provides the environment for the experiments. Inside this cleanroom will be several compartments for different activities.
This cleanroom will be built in an existing hall owned by the UM, Duboisdomein 30. The rough dimensions of the inside of the hall are 37 m by 25 m and with a clear height of 8 m. Renovation of this building is currently ongoing and includes the reconstruction of the floor to provide a stable foundation for the sensitive equipment.
