An option for supplying extra North Sea Canal ferry boats will be included in the agreement to be concluded. If a supplementary requirement results (this depends among other things on sustained passenger growth, municipal decisions relating to alternatives and urban development), GVB can decide to commission up to two extra North Sea Canal ferry boats, applying the conditions given in the already concluded agreement for the initial North Sea Canal ferry boats. GVB reserves the right to award contract(s) for this option separately to one or more other parties. In view of the long lifespan of the ferry boats, the long delivery times, the one-off costs and the desired standardisation for maintenance, the option for extension will apply for a period of 6 years after signing the agreement.
