The hemispherical analyser and monochromator is for laboratory-based Arpes investigations of complex, correlated and topological solids at low temperature. The components are for retro-fitting on an existing vacuum system in the Amsterdam lab which representatives of the organisations providing quotations are welcome to visit and examine in detail.

The current Arpes system has an SES2002 analyzer and a monochromatized VUV microwave He I and He II VUV/EUV source (at the time of purchase in 2003 from Gammadata /Scienta). This tender involves the replacement of the electron energy analyzer enabling 2D angle detection without moving the sample, and the addition of an additional He I light source + monochromator enabling:

i) delivery of a <0.5mm light spot at the sample so as to ensure good operation of the 2D angle scanning analyser and,
ii) rotation of the direction of linear polarisation of the radiation.
The UHV chamber (double mu-metal screened) and pumping etc. will be kept from the current system.
