Principal faces a major challenge of replacements of primary and secondary components in its 110-150 kV transmission grid in order to mitigate quality supply risks due to technical aging of the technology in place. TenneT aims at enhancing the speed of replacements, enhancing the agility of the 110-150kV segment of the national grid and reducing the costs of replacements and the operation and maintenance. The targets for this operation are:

— Replacement of approximately 1140 bays, divided over 140 stations in 10 years time,

— Replacement costs per bay approximately 30 % below the current actual replacement costs per bay,

— Major reduction of outage planning (VNB) to less than one day per bay.

Additionally TenneT aims to assure continuity of supply during the operation of bay-replacement, enhancement of co-worker safety and reduction of unavailability of assets during replacement. Given the challenge and impact of this major replacement program in the 2 decades to come, TenneT decided to perform a proof of concept phase (POC-phase) first.

TenneT is looking for one or more contractors to help develop and realise the proof of concept. This must be done based on the requirements and preconditions as TenneT will provide.

The approach of the POC-phase will be a modulair one. A number of subproducts (milestones) have been defined to process progressively to the desired end result. These are determined mainly based on the input derived from the marktconsultation TenneT organised. The subproducts (miltestones) (also called: “Works”) are:

— Design and / or 3D model version 1.0 (part of the award criteria of the framework agreement),

— Design and / or 3D model version 1.1 (succeeding mini-competion within the framework agreement),

— Prototype (succeeding mini-competion within the framework agreement),

— POC locations(succeeding mini-competion within the framework agreement).
