Development framework — AIS Bay / stationreplacement 110-150kV stations
This procedure is performed by TenneT TSO B.V., in this document also referred to as the Principal. Principal is the Netherlands' Transmission System Operator (TSO), operator of the national high-voltage transmission grid with a voltage level of 110 kV and higher. More information can be found at

Principal faces a major challenge of replacements of primary and secondary components in its 110-150 kV transmission grid in order to mitigate quality supply risks due to technical aging of the technology in place. In the coming 2 decades almost all bays and substations in the 110-150 kV segment of the Dutch national high voltage grid will have to be renovated at these stations. Instead of continuing renovation TenneT studies on the possibility of replacing a large part of these substations. In order to be able to replace many substations in a short time span, TenneT is planning for a high level of standardization of technology and ways of working.
