HPL panels VIRMm1 project

NS Groep N.V.

NS executes the refurbishment of passenger train coaches. For this activity, NS is looking for a supplier of HPL sandwich panels for the VIRMm1 refurbishment project. NS intends to conclude an agreement for HPL sandwich panels for the VIRMm1 project that covers approximately 416 coaches. In this contract there is an option for the VIRM 2/3 project which covers approximately 250 coaches and/ or an option for other similar refurbishment projects, NS may call on the option at its discretion. The contract will cover the duration of the VIRMm1 project, and will have the possibility for extensions for the option(s) mentioned, as long as the extensions start within 2 years after the end date of the VIRMm1 project. Candidates can derive no rights from these options. Additionally the delivery of spare parts for the period of 18 years is included in the scope. NS philosophy within this modernization project is to look at the entire supply chain of the products or goods. NS focus is on the total life span of the train which should, at least, be 18 years and thus the Life Cycle Costs (LCC). To achieve this, a focus is needed on both quality and costs. This is reached through a 'design to maintain' principle where reliability, availability, maintainability, serviceability, health and environment (RAMSHE) are linked to their life cycle costs (LCC) and weighted according to their importance. NedTrain wishes to enter a final agreement for the VIRMm1 project in respect of the HPL sandwich panels.
