Interior architect for new headquarters NV Nuon Energy in Amsterdam
NV Nuon Energy (Nuon) is searching for an interior architect for the interior design of its new head quarters (Nieuw Amsterdam building - Hoekenrodeplein 1-10, Amsterdam Zuidoost). Nuon rents 26.000m2 (or more) for a period of 10 years. Expected moving date: Q4 2013. The decision model of the developer is leading in the planning of the interior designer. The interior design must be completed by the 1st of November 2012.
The interior architect is to transform the building into a contemporary transparent welcoming space where people work, meet, share and have fun. The building is big and quite predictable so the interior architect is challenged to come up with surprising solutions but where “form follows function” and quality are key.
The building should also allow for a “new way of working” enabling less desks, higher utilization (2000 fte, 1400 desks) and more flexibility in workplace and working hours. The whole interior should be aesthetically attractive and be based on Vattenfalls interior design look and feel concept, but tailored to the specific functional requirements defined within the project".
The interior architect should come up with proposals for the different settings and the common areas in the building. The already existing floorplans/testfits will give a clear overview of what needs to be done. Next to that some special designs have to be made for the reception area, reception desk, kitchen take-out, sky lounge etc.
Furthermore the interior architect will be held responsible for project management services like time management, schedules, financial control, overview and clear communication. This should all be fitted in the already agreed planning, budgets, program of requirements and follow the same flow in time.
The interior design process follows a systematic and coordinated methodology, including research, analysis and integration of knowledge into the creative process.
— Information phase; collect all information, do research, analysis, study program of requirements, gather best practices new way of working, in order to get a clear perspective of our goals and requirements etcetera. This phase includes development of documents, drawings and other support that outline our needs,
— First proposal of artistic concept phase including a formulation of a theme, mood boards and rationale. This should include preliminary space plans (workplace concept) and two and three dimensional design concept studies and sketches that integrate our program of requirements and your knowledge of Vattenfall and the principles of interior design and the logical human behavior in a space,
— Second proposal artistic concept phase; improvement of ideas. In this phase it needs to be confirmed that the preliminary space plans (workplace concept) and design concepts are safe, functional, aesthetically appropriate and meet all public health, safety and welfare requirements. This also includes company codes, accessibility, environmental and sustainability guidelines,
— Third proposal. This should include Selection of colors, furniture, fixtures, equipment, materials and finishes to appropriately convey the design concept, and to meet socio-psychological, functional, maintenance, life-cycle performance, environmental, and safety requirements,
— Adjustments and translation of the proposal to all spaces in the building,
— Work on detailing from preliminary design to final design to final specifications (incl. technical documents detailed drawings will be made other advisors) Preparation of construction documents, consisting of plans, elevations, details and specifications, to illustrate non-structural and/or non-seismic partition layouts; power and communications locations; reflected ceiling plans and lighting designs; materials and finishes; and furniture layouts,
— Support purchasing department in bidding processes in specification of furniture, fixtures, equipment including layout drawings and detailed product description; and provision of contract documentation to facilitate pricing and procurement,
— Implementation, observation and reporting on the implementation of projects while in progress and upon completion, as a representative of and on behalf of the client; and conducting post-occupancy evaluation reports. This will be in collaboration with other parties involved and the build team,
— Completion phase with aftercare and small adjustments,
— Together with other Nuon representatives the evaluation of material / finished proposals made by the exterior architect and development company,
— Joining bi-weekly / weekly project meetings (ODT meeting and if required in the build team meetings and steering committee meetings.
