Dutch national supercomputer
SARA is seeking to purchase for a replacement for the current Dutch national supercomputer Huygens. The current system is a central and national high-end production facility which supports the diverse computational capability workload across a wide variety of scientific disciplines, ranging from theoretical chemistry and material science, climate modelling and atmosphere research, fluid dynamics, engineering, astronomy and earth sciences. The supercomputer serves over 60 active projects and more than 250 registered users. The current system is a 65 TFlop/s IBM p575 hydrocluster with 3456 Power6 cores at 4.7 GHz, 15.75 TB of main memory, an 160 Gbit/s Infiniband interconnect and 700 TB of net GPFS-based file space. The procurement will seek to migrate the active user community onto the new system.
