BRU is on the one hand renewing the infrastructure of the existing Light Rail connection between Utrecht and Nieuwegein and IJsselstein (LRUNIJ-line) and on the other hand realising a new line, the Uithofline. Both lines will be interconnected at Utrecht Central Station (CS) in the so-called OV (Public Transport) Terminal (OVT).
This project concerns the renewal of the signalling equipment on the existing LRUNIJ line, composed of two endpoints, one junction (both planned for 2018), entrance / exit to the depot area (2013) and the depot itself. The depot will firstly be renewed (2013) and reconstructed at a later stage (2016).
The construction of the Uithof line is foreseen in the period 2015-2016, while the OV Terminal will be realised in 2016.
The year 2017 is used to test the new (low floor) rolling stock for the Uithof line. This rolling stock needs access to the depot of the existing line.

Language. The Tender Dossier will be provided in English. However the contract is written in Dutch (an English translation will be provided as part of the Tender Dossier, but only for information). In order to be taken into consideration for the prequalification the applicant must fulfil the following minimum requirements:. Demonstration of relevant experience by a minimum of three similar projects realised in the last five years; . "similar" means: o A signalling system for a tramway, including signalling of depots. o Including a Maintenance Management System. o Realisation of the project in a tight time schedule; The applicant is free in the way he provides this information. BRU will use this information for the evaluation of the applicants and select the applicants, which will be invited for actual tendering, based on the relevance of the demonstrated experience for the actual project.
