Energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions โ prospective scenarios for the chemical and petrochemical industry in the EU
The goal of the study is to perform an in-depth analysis of the technological innovations that could take place in the chemical and petrochemical sector in the EU27 and to quantify their impact on the sector's energy efficiencies, GHG emissions profile and cost-competitiveness up to 2030.
To do so, the future contractor will have to perform 2 main tasks:
1. analyse the current technology status and technology prospects of the European chemical and petrochemical industry and assess the resulting margin of improvement for energy efficiency gains and GHG emissions reduction for the sector and its impact on cost-competitiveness;
2. develop scenarios to determine the deployment of low carbon and efficient energy technologies up to 2030 in the sector and quantify their impact on energy efficiency, reduction of GHG emissions and the cost-competitiveness of the sector up to 2030.
