A versatile and user-friendly SAXS instrument. It combines a powerful X-ray source, low background, high detector efficiency, high spatial resolution, and real time display with fully automated alignment and operation and user-friendly data treatment and analysis software. It allows the (non-)expert user to perform SWAXS studies probing structures over a wide range of length scales (0.1-100 nm) and to control and monitor the ongoing experiment remotely. The instrument is modular as it allows for a wide variety of sample environments (including shear cells, tensile stages, autosampling, DSC), different types of experiments (SAXS, WAXS, GISAXS, and reflectometry), and different kinds of samples (e.g. solutions and solid samples that may be isotropic, oriented, or (liquid) crystalline). The SAXS system is a closed system, e.g. there is no risk of radiation exposure to the operating personnel under normal operation.
